Did you know there is no FDA approved testosterone supplement in pill form. Instead, all forms of testosterone are either applied on the skin, injected or implanted under the skin. Why is this? Because oral testosterone is damaging to the liver and has been banned in the US. So the simplicity of the pill has eluded the testosterone replacement arena. However, another way to increase the testosterone is by making the body increase its own testosterone. And this may be available by pill form. It works in a very clever way, by tricking the brain into thinking the testosterone levels are low. The brain, specifically the pituitary is the “ thermostat” of the body. It tells the testicles how much testosterone to produce.
Clomid is a pill that has been around for years and is FDA approved for other uses. It can trick the pituitary into thinking testosterone levels are low. The testicles then produce more testosterone. This lead to a novel approach to testosterone replacement therapy. Rather than pumping the body up with exogenous testosterone, the body creates its own testosterone. Here is another advantage: while exogenous testosterone reduces sperm counts and can lead to infertility, the above approach should not interfere with fertility.
